Terms of Service

Effective November 4, 2026

These terms cover the relationship between you and LumberCalculator.net. We've kept them as close to plain English as legal text allows: what the site gives you, what you may do with it, where the boundaries sit, and what happens if something breaks.

1.Acceptance

By using the Site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site โ€” there is no account to cancel and nothing to delete on our side, so leaving is as simple as closing the tab.

2.What the Site provides

The Site offers free planning tools for woodworking, framing, and construction projects: the lumber calculator with its four modes (board feet, framing, board/trim, coverage), plus a library of lumber guides and reference sections. The table above lists what is live and what is planned. All tools are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or accuracy of results. A board-foot estimate is a planning figure, and the disclaimer is part of these terms by reference.

3.Not professional structural advice

Estimates produced by the calculator are planning references, not structural engineering, professional carpentry, or contractor advice. The lumber you actually buy governs the project: its grade, moisture content, and the span tables that apply to your region and building code override any generic planning number. For structural questions โ€” header sizing, joist spans, load-bearing modifications โ€” consult a structural engineer or qualified carpenter. You assume full responsibility for any decision made using the Site's output, including what you purchase and how you build.

Estimateany board-foot volume, framing stud count, siding lineal-foot total, waste allowance, or cost figure produced by the calculator.
Your datacalculator inputs and saved results, which remain on your device and are never transmitted to us.

5.Acceptable use

You may

  • Use the calculator for any personal estimating purpose โ€” planning lumber purchases, budgeting a project, or preparing a shopping list.
  • Link to any page of the Site freely, in any context.
  • Share calculator result links โ€” share links contain only the inputs you chose to include.
  • Print or save a copy of a result or guide for your own records or a project file.

You may not

  • Attempt to disrupt, overload, or reverse-engineer the Site or its infrastructure.
  • Scrape, bulk-copy, or republish substantial portions of the formulas, species pricing presets, or guide content without written permission.
  • Present the Site's estimates as structural engineering, professional carpentry, or contracting advice, or rebrand them as your own tool.
  • Use automated systems to generate traffic or submissions that degrade the Site for other visitors.

6.Your content and your data

The Site stores nothing about you on our servers. Calculator inputs and saved results live in your browser only, and share links travel wherever you send them. Messages you send via the contact page are handled per the privacy policy. You retain all rights to anything you write to us; we retain the right to quote it (anonymized) when it corrects our reference data โ€” formula and pricing fixes have literally come this way.

7.Intellectual property

The Site's design, text, and code are owned by LumberCalculator.net or its licensors. The board-foot formulas and framing math used by the calculator summarize publicly available industry-standard planning numbers (PS 20-25, NDS, NAHB) and are offered for personal, non-commercial planning use. If you believe content here infringes your rights, write to us with specifics and we'll address it promptly.

8.Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LumberCalculator.net and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Site, including lumber purchases, material waste, project delays, or structural decisions made in reliance on calculator output. This clause is deliberately blunt: the tool is free, and its price in liability matches.

9.Changes & governing law

We may revise these terms at any time; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance, and the effective date above moves with any material revision. These terms are governed by the laws applicable at the operator's principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Questions about any clause are welcome at the contact page.
